Happy Holidays

While most kids have presents under the tree from Santa, there's a present under our tree with a tag that reads:

To: Ryder
From: Jeff Tweedy

You'll have to guess what it is.

I'm becoming more self aware, and I don't mean more self critical. But seriously, how can you work on changing your character defects if you aren't even aware of them?

I'm very impatient. Very impatient. So impatient that there are certain friends whom I love dearly yet with whom I cannot have a telephone conversation because THEY TALK TOO SLOW. Speed it up, people, I have things to do.

Telling them this will not make them talk any faster, but I guarantee it will shorten the call.

You never know exactly what to expect when you book a bed & breakfast having never before stayed there. The place I booked ended up being fantastic and with the baby, it was so much better than being confined to a small hotel room.

Anyone ever been to Comfort, Texas? It's really quite a nice, relaxing place in the middle of absolutely nowhere. It's near Kerrville, which (if you live in Texas) you've probably heard of since its annual folk festival is mighty popular.

There are a lot of deer out there. In the morning, we'd see herds of them just across the creek from us, and Ryder's eyes would get so wide.

The idea of driving to Austin with a 13-month-old used to frighten me. This is no longer true since we drove through Austin and through San Antonio and then on to Comfort. 327 miles there, 327 miles back to Dallas. Did I mention that we were with a 13-month-old? It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that much fun either, especially when he got restless and yelled at me and all I could think was, "Is his ass hurting as much as mine?"
